We chilled out in Airlie Beach for a week, mostly going to the lagoon in the day. We got the Oz bus to Kroombit on Saturday. Kroombit is a cattle station in the outback!! When we got there I didn't think I was going to enjoy it as there were mosies everywhere.
We put our bags in our room and then went straight over to dinner, had a nice dinner then we all went over to the fire and a man gave us a talk about the area and what they do there. After that he taught us all how to crack a whip which was good fun, I couldn't do it at first and gave myself a couple of hit across the back but after a while, I got the hang of it!!! After this we all had a go on the mechanical bull which was hilarious, it was really violent and everyone was coming off on the first buck. On my first go I got thrown off on the first buck but on my second go I managed to stay on for 3 bucks which I was pleased with!! We then all went back over to the camp fire and had a few drinks and played silly games, it was a funny evening.
In the morning we could either do a walk or go on a goat muster, Me, Kat, Mira and Hayley decided to do the goat muster. It was hilarious, we all went out on horseback and had to round up all the goats in a massive paddock. The paddock was really rocky with loads of trees and hills. Because the goats are used to the horses you have to make loads of noise to get them moving so there we were running around a field shouting and pretending we were Indians to scare the goats. It was so much fun, I think I must have been a cowgirl in a past life!!!
After the goat muster we had some lunch then went over to do a goat rodeo. We learnt how to lasoo, then had to go in the pen with all the goats we had rounded up earlier. We had to choose the goat we wanted then lasoo it. If you got the one you wanted they took 5 seconds off your time. I was getting quite good at it in practise but when I got in the pen I was rubbish, I did get the goat I wanted though in about 40 seconds. Kat got hers in -3 seconds as she got the one she wanted in 2!!
After the rodeo we all went over to have a go at clay pigeon shooting, we had 5 shots each, 1 guy got 4 out of 5 but everyone else missed all theirs. I managed to get 1 which I was pleased with but Kat got 3 which was really good. After this we had to leave to go to Hervey Bay.
