We stayed for a few nights in the random little town of Nelson, which didn't really have much going for it, other than it was an hours drive from the beautiful Abel Tasmin National Park.Charlie, Kelly, Chin, James and I all decided the branch out on our own abit, and hire a car fro two days to go to the national park.James and I were entrusted to go and pick the car up, and came back with beasty 4x4 jeep in British Racing Green. There was absolutely no need for this, other than it was so cool!!The first day we just drove to the park and had a look around - went for a short walk to one of the beaches and had some lunch. We booked Kayaks for the next day, and had an early start, heading around to the different beaches and coves. The National Park is stunning, although we didn't see as much as we might have liked due to being sidetracked by silly games on the beach! The Maori guy told us not to worry, cos the beaches we went to are just as pretty as the others further up - I felt abit better about that! When we got back to Nelson, we struggled the 20 minute walk to the top of the hill, placing us at the complete centre of New Zealand. The view from up here was pretty special.I went home and slept well this night - all too much fresh air!
Stayed the next night in Westport - I have nothing to say about Westport - that is how good it was!
The picture is from the mirror lakes from one of our many walks! Good pic hey!
