We spent about 5 hours on the quadbikes exploring the island today :o)
We visited the black beach of Perissa (volcanic black sand) and then we drove up steep and winding roads to see ancient Thira (inhabited hundreds of years ago before the major erruption).
I may have driven my bike over the edge of wall into a vineyard. Thankfully depsite the drop over the road, the bike remained upright and I managed to stay on it. Q heard my scream and came to the rescue. It taught me a valuable lesson about determining if I am pressing brake or accelerator when close to the edge of things (I was extra extra careful when on the cliff edges later on in the day). Apart from some bruises, wounded pride and a few moments spent in shock and contemplating how much worse that could have been, I was fine ;o)
We also went down to the smaller port area and the drive gave us the chance to see some beautiful glimpses of cliff top villages and the volcano.
I played with some cats around the island and watched the sunset through the clouds and haze in the evening.
