After spending the morning trying to locate a laundromatte (far harder than you would imagine and it also involved meeting an Italian Elvis) we walked back into Rome and saw the sights again. Last night we had a nice dinner and walked around Venice to see it at night. It is really quiet once all the day trippers have left and most of the stores are closed. Today we cruised the grand canal some more and went and saw St Marks Square and the church and belltower. We enjoyed it all from the outside as the queues were hours long and it is such a beautiful day we just wanted to be outside. Finished the crappy drive and found our way to the Venice mainland. Returned the car in one piece! woohoo. Ended up catching the train to the Island. We had to walk over bridges and around stall holders and tourists with our luggage to reach the hotel. The directions only mentioned crossing one bridge but there were two.
