Today we took the quad bikes to the other end of the island. We went to some smaller villages that no longer seem to be tourist drawcards but were pretty and more traditional. We also went to Oia which had beautiful shops and restraunts with amazing views. Most pictures you see of Santorini would have been taken there. We spent about 5 hours on the quadbikes exploring the island today :o) We visited the black beach of Perissa (volcanic black sand) and then we drove up steep and winding roads to see ancient Thira (inhabited hundreds of years ago before the major erruption). I may have driven my bike over the edge of wall into a vineyard. Thankfully depsite the drop over the road, the bike remained upright and I managed to stay on it. Today we made it to Santorini (Greek Island). The flight was quite uneventful and we arrived around lunch time. We are staying in a little apartment on a cliff with a view of the Caldera (the rim of the Volcano that errupted causing part of the island to sink, giving it the unique shape it has today).
