Meikles Adventure
Well we're on the side of the road again – this time though its mine worker utes (baaki’s) going by. Jericho theme tune is playing on the radio frequency & they’re talking about wetting something down and other such stuff – just waiting for them to come and bust us here on the side of the road just outside of Karagini National Park. Very quick pack up of the old 4-man tent – has come very much in handy, but if I haven’t said so already – not much fun anymore on a half-body air mattress after 3 nights running! Beautiful mountains all around though, Sach picked another good spot for the night!
Drove into Dales campsite (recreational area), lucky we got here early because apparently they are booked out about 11am – bit of a problem if we got here any later, not too many places to stay hereabouts & if you have to stay outside of the park, the distances are just too huge to get around, especially with the trailer attached.
Unpacked trailer and had lunch (who knows what the time is anymore!) – Sach had a nap and girls played about with their and our stuff in bags – shopping or something… They can entertain themselves with just about anything!
A walk – map in hand, hats on heads, camera & water. To Circular Pools and then Fortescue Falls and a bit further on to Fern Pool. Fabulous scenery – bit of a long walk but it was well worth it. Think even the girls thought so, which is a bonus.
Sach went for a swim in Fern Pool & persuaded me to do the same – wow – it was magic. Climbed up under a little waterfall at the far end of the pool, the water rushing down was quite warm. Beautiful coloured water in the pools – wow it was spectacular, the rock face so red across the top of the gorge walls and then down to the really serene colours of the pools and waterfalls at the bottom.
Slow walk back to camp – I’m soaked having jumped in with my clothes on cos I don’t just have undies to change into like everyone else!
Dinner & diary done finally – still no internet, think that might become more & more difficult now too.
At least we have our bed to sleep in again tonight though! Yay!
Goodnight.
