Today we travelled from Picton to Kaikoura. Picton was a sleepy seaside town, the main port for the ferrys traveling between north and South Island. We didn't do a great deal in Picton other than wander about the town. There is a walk to do there but we shall do that on our stop over before north island. So for the past two days we have been in Nelson. It's a fairly large town on comparison to the areas we have been lately and our hostel is located pretty much in the centre. Yesterday was a chilled day with a long lie in followed by a dip in the hot glacier pools which we gained free entry to with our glacier trip. Today is going to be a long one. We have just begin our 10 hour coach ride to Nelson. Apparently our first stop is at possum Pauls cafe where there is going to be a television crew... Firstly yesterday... A failed attempt for out glacier trip. The weather was horrific... Electricity was in and out and it poured rain all day with flashed if lightning and cracks of thunder. Laura and I spent the day drinking tea with our duvets covers and watched frozen! Very apt. However today the sun was shinning and wind died down. The past few days have been much the same in terms of weather ... Rain and lots of it! 400mm in the space of 48 hours. It began on Thursday when we had a trip to Milford sound.
