Today we arrived in Christchurch in the early hours of the morning and hopped straight into bed when we arrived at the hostel.

Due to our early arrival we had a lie in before venturing out. The weather was not as cold as we expected but still cold enough for jeans and long sleeves.

We spent the afternoon walking around Christchurch, suprised by the state of the city which remained a building site after the destruction of the feb 2011 earthquake.

To be quite honest I found the city to be depressing with such damage and little done to make repair. The light in all of this however was "Re:Start" a shopping mall formed out of very colourful shipping containers!

On our way back to the hostel we walked through the botanic park, very very muddy! We spent the evening in our dorm chatting with fellow travellers, however being in the dorm was more a necessity than a want. Outside our door a fight had broken out between to drunken idiots (not going to bother
Sugar coating it). The most drunk of the two pulled out a knife and was threatening to stab the other guy. The police were called and the guy carted off in handcuffs. After speaking to people, we later learnt this fight was all over a girl and who was going to get her for the night. Ridiculous!

Anywho after we could leave our room we ventured for some dinner before calling it a night as we have a bus to catch at 8.30 am to Queenstown in the morning! Super excited for Queenstown!
