Hi All ! !
Today 'as you know' is Thanksgiving! Where everybody gives thanks for my birth. it just so happens that there are two others who share this event also (Daniel & Jordan), they were born before me, but apparently that was good because they were the build up for the more advanced one.
Its now 14:30 on my birthday and im chilling out with a beer and some Lindt Chocolates (advertisement), which my good lady Lauren bought for me. I went to work in the morning today, the duration was spent on a Tractor harvesting Lettuce. At the end I jumped on the company Quad bike and had a little play, we've had abit of rain over night so you can imagine how fun the wet conditions were hammering round bends, its even more fun in a rear wheel drive pick-up.
Tonight should be good, were having a few chums over from work, a few cards, a few beers and some Birthday cake (courtesey of my good lady) should all go down a treat.
This week has been an experience, we had the amazing pleasure of looking after a Baby Kangaroo who Lauren named MISSY, i tell ya....... its amazing how close you get to those things in such a little amount of time. I had to purposely not spend to much time with her or I would have never let her go (Thats right Lads, i'm not a shamed to say it!). Unfortunately how we got Missy was'nt so happy, we was on our way to work when we saw a Kangaroo who had been knocked down on the road, we noticed a little Joey in her pouch, still alive and amazingly unhurt!. A passer-by assisted us in getting the little Joey from the mothers pouch and straight into a blanket in replacement. We took Missy home and got a a local lady named Sue to come round and give her a quick look over to make sure the little Joey was ok. Sue taught Lauren how to feed her, how to keep her warm, how to make her go toilet, and how to make her go to sleep. It was amazing to see how similar she was to an actual newborn human baby! She cried for attention when she wanted to, she done a number 1 when she wanted to, she done a number 2 when she wanted to (note, there is no nappy for a Joey), you had to feed her at certain routine times (4:30 AM !!!! being one of them). All part of the experience though! plus.....if memory serves me right, i think Lauren handled all of that.
All had to come to an end though, we had to say good bye to her on the 28th, Missy has gone to a private residential home where there is a lady there who specialises in the upbringing of baby Joeys and is very passionate about them. Lauren got very close to her and is still pining after her now, Lauren took the day off to spend with her and Missy would follow Lauren around the house everytime she was out of the pouch we made her. Just to make Missy's departure harder, Sue said Missy now looks at Lauren as her mother (Another day more and I swear Lauren would of had us married and suggested we start saving for Missy's College fund).
This week was also Ollie's Birthday, we celebrated by going out for a lovely Indian meal, we were the only ones in there, i think they actually turned the lights on for us lol! Food was really nice though!
Well, hope everyone is very well. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Daniel & Jordan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you very much to everyone for sending me cards, ill be keeping them all as an Australian keepsake!
Keep well. Greg and Lauren x
