Sunday. Prague Round 3 and the last day the guys have here. We get up and have brekky and then head down to the car. We get some photos of us in the hostel and around The Turtle first and then we go. First thing on the list is to return the beer crate and get our deposit back. Problem is that we have absolutely no idea where we actually got it from other than the name of the store chain.
After driving around for what felt like about an hour we decide to park and get out and walk a bit. We finally find one of the stores we are looking for and confirm that we can return the crate to them. So we go back to the car to get it and decide to drive and park nearer to the store. As always this turns out to be a bigger problem than it should have been with again every turn we want being one-way the wrong way. We end up driving about half way around the city (and breaking a few more traffic laws) before we get back to where we want to be.
And then finally it happened. We found ourselves driving down what turned out to be a pedestrian only road and a cop on foot saw us and waved us over. He told us that the maximum penalty for this is 2000czk, but he would only fine us 400. We were asked for the paperwork for the car and Genaro needed to hand over his passport, which was in the trunk. So now Genaro is outside the car talking with the cop while the rest of us are waiting in the car speculating about what is being said. A good 20 or so minutes pass and he still isn't back. Meanwhile another car has been pulled over behind us for the same thing. They hand over some money and are on there way within 10 minutes. Yet, we're still waiting. No doubt Genaro is trying to talk his way out of it. In the end we do pay the 400czk and we're on our way.
Now we decide to go find some parking near Charles Bridge and walk around from there. This proved to be our biggest driving challenge yet. We were driving around in circles I'm pretty sure for at least an hour trying to find parking. And when we finally did find one it was quite a bit further away than we hoped. Add on top of this that it was raining... We decide to sit in the car for like another 20 minutes hoping it would stop raining, trying to figure out our next move.
We had two umbrellas between the five of us. Yavuz and Patricia shared one and I shared mine with Cristina. Genaro had a rain coat. It was wet and rainy but it was still fun. We walked over Charles Bridge again. Then we went and saw and walked through the world's thinnest road (apparently). Meanwhile Genaro's coat was doing pretty much nothing, he was drenched (though his socks were dry in his Gor-Tex shoes :P ).
We walked up and down a market at which I bought my Prague bottle opener. Then we went back to the car, found a gas station to fill up at and then back to the hostel. Unfortunately this was the end of the guy's trip to Prague. We said our goodbyes, they hopped in the car, I went inside and that was that.
So, Christina, Genaro, Patricia and Yavuz, cheers for the amazing and wild time. Not only in Prague, but in Dresden too. I can only hope that this is only a temporary goodbye and that our paths will cross again. In fact, I'm almost sure they will. I will make sure they will.
