I'd looked in an old lonely planet book for hostel in Sligo. It read that the best one was Eden Hill Holiday Hostel.
I asked a couple of people who gave me directions. One lady was just around the corner from it. I turned the corner and there it was - a house of horrors! A huge dilapidated house with overgrown ivy and windows of corrugated iron.
It was too late to search around for another hostel. I prefer hostels as they have laundry facilities.
Ended up in a 4 star B&B which made an enjoyable change.
There was a garage with laundry facilities nearby so the next day I had a good spring clean of the van and bedding. Even Sacha, as there was a dog shower there as well. She hated it and I got just as wet but she has a lovely shiny coat.
Leaving Sligo I drove to a couple of beaches. One at Strandhill which was busy but then it was Sunday and then a quiet one at Streetdagh point which was deserted and very peaceful.
Continued on WAW where there was another side trip.
Mullaghmore Head is a special place. Once owned by Palmerston there is a fairy tale castle and a stunning circuitous drive along the cliffs.
I was feeling content and then someone told me that this the bay where Mountbatten and others were blown up in a boat by the IRA.
Outside a hotel were 4 girls so tarted up for a christening I couldn't help Curry. Sacha happy christening I had to take a photo.
After a chicken curry in the pier hotel I camped on the harbour front.
