Risking the little knocking noise on my brakes, I decided to drive to Dingle anyway. On the way lunch stop at Inch Beach where you could drive for a mile on the beach. Maybe they should rename it.
On to Dingle where I made the boat trip to see Fungie the Dingle dolphin. For the last 30 years his appearance has enchanted visitors. I was told that if you don't see him you don't pay. Sure enough he played around the boats. I was told that he does this without enticement. At the beginning some fishermen tried to give him fish which he totally rejected after all he enjoyed fishing himself.
I continued to drive around to the Dunquin Head. This was the area that Ryan's Daughter was filmed. All too beautiful to describe.
It was quite late but I decided to go back to Inch Beach to overnight. Arrived there when it was dusk and drove a little way along and became stuck in soft sand. No one around. Tried putting a towel and Sacha's favourite blanket under the wheels but they were just mangled into the damp sand. There was also the risk of the tide coming in as it is a long flat beach. I walked back towards the restaurant at the beginning of the beach to beg for a tow. It must happen a lot. Then there was a French couple with a van and they suggested using carpet. They came back with me and using my carpet and plates as shovels I got out. Phew -what a relief. Nearly got stuck again at another spot. It had been a long day and I was exhausted.
