Today we don't have class because of a university holiday so last night we met up with friends at a bar/cafe. A large portion of the students from our program enjoyed "tapas" with some of the students from Caceres. They have all been so nice about making us feel welcome, and including us in social activities.
Every Wednesday there is a market in the city so today we met up with a bunch of the students to check it out. There was an abundance of fresh produce, flowers, meat, cheese and clothing for sale. I did not make any purchases, but Kathryn bought a hoodie for 5 Euros--what a steal! After the market, Kathryn, Sean, Andrew and I went to the bus station to see about tickets for Madrid. We have officially booked our first trip! We will be in Brussels, Belgium the entire weekend after next, and I cannot wait! We found out that round trip bus tickets to Madrid (where we fly out of) were 36 Euros. Our flights, with tax, ended up being 91 Euros. We're thinking this will be one of our more expensive trips due to our lack of experience, but we're learning. Plus, it's still much cheaper than anything you'd find in the states.
The rest of the day was spent relaxing and catching up on what little homework we had from our first two days. (Although, I actually have to give a presentation next Monday already!) Classes are going really well, or as well as they can be for the first week, but more on that later!
Much love to all of you back home. xoxo.
