Today I came home from school to find an abundance of mail waiting for me. I was so excited! As I began reading my letters, the gate rang. My host mom asked me to answer the gate, and when I did, I met the delivery man with an enormous bouquet of roses and stargazer lilies. Today we ventured into the city for La Fiesta de Las Candelas.It's a festival in honor of the Blessed Virgin.There was a parade earlier this afternoon, where children dressed in traditional garments leading up to the church where a ceremony was performed.The festival lasts only the 1st and 2nd of February and consists of traditional music and dance.Street vendors line the streets selling breads, sweets, jewelry and other items.
