Saturday arrives bright, clear & warm. We set off towards Sallie's daughter Jenny and her husband Scott's house south of Brisbane in Logan where they have a large 6 bedroom home with a large garden. However, Jenny already had a houseful as Tania (Sallie's youngest) & her 2 children had come from Victoria & Julie & Dale (Sallie's eldest daughter) had come over from Perth. With all the various children to be housed as well ourselves, Sallie, Nikki & Neal (Sallie's 2nd daughter) had been booked in to a Motel - the photo at the top is of pool there. The family had all gathered to celebrate Sallie's 70th birthday.
On Saturday evening we all trooped off to Movie World, a big theme park, to attend the Outback Spectacular's presentation 'the Spirit of the Horse' and what a spectacle it was. There are tiers of seats around the arena where you are sat at a table and served up with a three course steak dinner while watching the show. This celebrated Australia's history that was built on the use of the horse in all walks of life. It was fast, noisy and very loud, but the horses didn't seem to mind & we were treated to cows, cars, stage coaches & trick riding accompanied by a large screen that showed the ways horses were such a very important part of their history. Their own Phar Lap who was as much a racing super star as our Red Rum and USA's Sea Biscuit was honoured with the telling of his story.
After a fabulous evening the family all went to their various beds ready to meet again the following morning. We weren't allowed to take photos so you will have to wait til we get home with the official photos & programme.
