Rather overhung after yesterday's antics so had a lazy day at home with Guy & Donna.
We have learned how to re do the location to the right spot so you will see we are back near Occidental.
Thursday dawned bright & clear promising to be a hot day. Peters turn to share his experience:
During our civic year I was supposed to have had a go on a zipwire for my charity. Sadly this did not happen because the set up costs were very high and there were not enough advance bookings. This being so, Gill noticed that there was a zipwire amongst the redwoods in the next village so we booked it. Gill declined to participate so a party of eight of us started with a short 40 metre almost level zip. This started from the top of a steep slope so we were 20m up in the air at the end on a circular platform round a tree. The next wire led to a 100m run which saw two of our party dip out as they did not like being some 40m up. They were safely lowered down a zip wire back to terra firma. After this it got interesting. As the ground sloped away below us we were around 60m plus above the ground, flying through the air between the trees - a real adrenalin rush, scary but lots of fun!
The final run was over 800m long at speeds over 30mph - this justified that most overused American advective -awesome! After this we did two rope walk bridges high in the canopy, climbed a spiral staircase up a redwood to gain more height and a final short zip and then a 30m abseil down a giant redwood - a most amazing experience followed by a visit to the local bar for a much needed beer!
