Arrived at the caves for the three pm tour lasted about an hour, very cool underground . Quite magical to see the starry effect created by the glow worms feeding in the cave. Guide was a descendant of the Maori chief Tane Tinorau who discovered the cave in 1887.

Lunch at Te Kuiti where the whole town was closed due to a very important Moari funeral. This town is the shearing capital of the world.

On our way to Waitomo today on the way drove thro Whakamuru Forest and stopped to walk around the lake. Deserted except for the wildlife beautiful spot like the Wye Valley .

Well done Dave made it up the mountain, stunning photos which we will share when we get home. Came back around the lake and back to Taupo for a third night.

Cloudless Sunday morning so headed around Lake Taupo to the southern end , Dave is hoping to do the walk up into the mountains . Arrived at the pickup point three young men are waiting to go up so he will join them. I am going to clean the Campervan, and read my book.
