Dave and I enjoyed the whole experience, then drove back to a private camp site outside Te Anau had a bite to eat in the camper, did a load of washing and dried it, put our heads down for a well earned rest .

Reached the Sound in plenty of time for our boat trip scheduled for 1pm. It was well worth the wait, awesome, spectacular, the photos will never capture the beauty and serenity of this place. The weather was kind, and we had a lovely day. Very special xx

Early start around 7.30 joined a few vehicles heading along SH94 to Milford Sound, spotted a rainbow felt this was a good omen. Road closures to be updated along the way. Through rainforest canopies , past small holdings in remote open scrub land beautiful views . We pressed on praying the road would be open . The rivers through the ravines had caused low cloud.
