Hello everyone,
Well this morning first thing we went back up to Lake Pukaki to see if we could see Mt Cook, but again it was still covered in cloud. So we waited for about an hour and then decided to just cut our loses and to return here on our way back up. Hopefully then it will be a clear day.
We are now in Oamaru. On the way down we stopped at the Elephant Rocks. This is the location of the battle and Aslan's Camp in the film Narnia 'The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe'. Very surreal being on an exact spot where a movie was made.
Oamaru itself is the only Victorian town in NZ. Very pretty and some of the buildings inside and out were amazing. We went to an old motor museum which was cool. We also went to see the 'Yellow Eyed' penguins which are the rarest penguins in the world. We saw them in the natural habitat coming in from the sea and climbing up the cliffs to roost. Its very nice here and were very lucky to see the penguins as they're so rare.
Speak to you all soon, Darren, Gemma and George xxx xxx xxx
