Hello peoples,
Well, this was the drive where we almost ran out of fuel. A very long drive. You can sometimes drive for over a 100km's and not see any sign of life, let alone a fuel station. But we did make it to Greymouth. We drove up through Arther's Pass which was amazing scenery. We also saw the battle site for the Narnia film. Didn't know it was done over two different sites and was really good to be there.
We arrived here quite late but there is not a lot here in Greymouth to really do or see apart from Shanty town. Which is an old gold mining town that has been kept in the year of 1860. It was done very well and even the staff looked very authentic! We went on a Steam train ride up to some of the old mines. You can't go in them as they are now blocked off due to safety but you do get a good idea as one of them you can walk about 5 metres in to it before you can go no further. We didn't find any gold though :o(
That's it for here, we are now heading up to Golden Bay which is right near the top of the South Island. Speak to you all soon.
