We're still on Magnetic Island and, thankfully, we've had a much better day here than yesterday. I had the best night's sleep I've had since the capsule hotel in Tokyo so Jim didn't have to drag a comatosed girl around with him today.
This morning we hired bikes so we could see more of the island on our own terms. However, in the space of exactly one minute I managed to fall off mine like a complete idiot (it was too big for me!). But I soldiered on with a bloody knee like the trooper I am...
Anyway, we head off for West Point, the most remote part of the island. It was quite a trek on sandy roads so there were a couple more near misses for me before we reached our destination. When we got there we were greeted by a practically uninhabited bay, bar a few people fishing, so we admired the scenery for an hour or so before heading back down the coast to Picnic Bay.
Like the maverick Jim is, he disregarded the picnic prompt and had a burger in a cafe before we went and spent the afternoon sunbathing on the beach. Gorgeous weather again so I wrote some postcards whilst Jim snoozed and read. We then headed back to Base Backpackers, which is a lot less manic now thank God (it seems our arrival accidentally coincided with the Full Moon Party - an all nighter that attracted people from all over Queensland!).
Had another wander to get cups of tea and food. And that's about all! It's wierd having days that aren't as action packed as the last three weeks have been. But we're getting into the swing of it now and our moods are considerably better than yesterday.
Got an early start tomorrow to catch the ferry back to Townsville so we can get the Greyhound down to Airlie Beach for our Whitsundays sailing trip. Five hours on a bus - yippee! Let's hope they're showing better films than last time (we got Barnyard and some appalling Disney film starring Cuba Gooding Jr). A Batman film would be nice...
Love you all lots x x x
