Good morning everyone, I'm writing to you from our hostel at Noosa Heads. It's probably my favourite hostel so far in Australia - it's a massive lodge perched at the top of the hill, overlooking Noosa. And the beds are ridiculously comfortable so I actually got more than five hours sleep last night (also helped by the fact my room mates didn't snore for once).
We arrived in Noosa yesterday morning after our very early Greyhound stint. I was so bored on the coach that I actually whooped when we got a toilet break at a service station. They were the most swish services I have ever visited - there was an outdoor seated area at the back overlooking a massive pond and the hills, and inside one of the shops they even sold postcards of the service station! Bizarre. Was sorely tempted to send some home but thought that everyone would think I'd lost the plot.
Once at Noosa we checked into our lovely hostel and then headed to look at the beach. It's very pretty and a lot more surfy than anything we've encountered in Oz so far. We then wandered through Noosa Woods to the boating lake and walked back through the main street which is full of classy cafes, restaurants and boutiques.
You can definitely feel the drop in temperature now that we've travelled a bit further down the coast. It was proving a bit windy sitting on the beach so we spent most of the afternoon sat outside at a cafe before wandering around Noosa Junction and Noosaville. We really like it here and are a bit gutted that we were only here for one night to be honest. It's so much less inbred than northern Queensland and most of the people here appear to be Australian tourists which has to be a good sign. It's very swanky too - there are loads of sports cars and gorgeous holiday apartments surrounding the riverbanks. So yesterday was a nice, quiet one and we're off on the Greyhound to Brisbane this afternoon.
Quote of the day yesterday was from me, in response to Jim's taunts: "I refuse to get involved with any jokes about skin cancer until I'm safely home."
Speak soon lovelies x x x
P.S. Ooo, and a retrospective quote of the day from Fraser Island for you... One of the kn*bhead Canadian fratboys turned to Jim at the start of the trip and said "Are you ready to ROCK this island?!", to which Jim replied in the least enthusiastic voice I've ever heard: "Yeah, probably."
