G'day folks! We've arrived at Hervey Bay after our 12 hour Greyhound trip (arriving at 6am - we're knackered!). The journey went surprisingly fast and we did get to watch two films: Hideous Kinky (rubbish) and Little Miss Sunshine (excellent) so that killed some time.
Hervey Bay isn't much of a picture postcard place to be honest, there's a beach and a strip of shops and cafes but it's nowhere near as pretty as Airlie Beach. It seems like the entire place is only a gateway to Fraser Island, which is where we're off to tomorrow.
We've got a three day trip booked and we start at 7am tomorrow morning. I have absolutely no idea what to expect; all I know is that it is supposedly the largest sand island in the world, Helen got engaged there so it must be pretty, there are dingos everywhere and apparently they can open coolboxes with their teeth to get to beer, and that I'm possibly going to have to take my turn in driving a 4x4 across the sand dunes. Very scary when you consider I've only been passed about four months and the largest car I've ever driven is a corsa. Think I might delegate my driving duties for the safety of the rest of the passengers...
So we're just taking it easy here today and organising the next leg of our trip (booking our hostel in Brisbane), ready for a horrendously early start tomorrow. The highlight of my day so far has been the shower (we were only allowed one minute showers onboard the boat so I had half the seabed stuck to my head). Think we're going to have a wander to the beach later to have a sunbathe and read.
Quite a low key one today but I'll hopefully have some tales to tell when I get back after Fraser Island.
Love you and miss you all lots x x x
