We had to fly down to Surat Thani & then take a ferry across to Koh Phangan to be there in time for the full moon party. We had booked one nights accommodation for an extortionate price before we left Bangkok. We thought it may be some kind of luxury hotel but it wasn't! The next day we had to try &find a new hotel, everywhere was full. Things weren't looking good! We decided to walk down the beach & call in at every set of Bungalows, preparing ourselves to pay an obscene amount of money. Luckily we found a room in the second lot of Bungalows we came across & the rom was only 5 pounds a night between three of us. The only snag was it was just one room with a double bed so Helen & Charlie took it in turns at sleeping at the platform at the end of the bed!
The full moon party was good, not as busy as we expected it to be & the beach wasn't as big. It was still a laugh tho. They have different djs at each bar & some places all you can hear is about 12 songs mixed together. The drinks come in buckets with about 5 thousand straws! We all got tattooed with (wash off) illuminous uv paint. Charlies was the best, he had his beard coloured in & looked like a giant leprecaun!
The beach at Koh Phangan was nice but we thought there woud be better so we next headed off to Koh Tao....
