After another magic sunrise, we had a nice relaxing beach day today. Little ones had a lovely time splashing about & Zac then fell asleep in the sun on my lap! The sun in italy is so different to Australia. You can be out in it nearly all day without sun screen & not get burnt. Normally I'd be like a tomato if I did it in Oz. We did a short boat tour of the local islands & some caves with vivid blue water.... Grotto Azzurro. We are so lucky with such warm weather in Nov. The sea here is crystal clear. There is some very serious money in this spot. Its where the movie stars liked to holiday in the 1950s...Carey Grant, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn etc. Hoping our daggy reefs & faded tshirts look purposely trendy.... But really, who cares! Lovely historic part to the town which we caught a cable car up to see. There's an ancient amphitheatre claimed to be in the most spectualar setting in the world. One side has the view of Mt Etna & the other the mountains dropping into the sea. They still use it in summer. Would be fantastic to see a performance there. Sick to death of bread products which our been our staple diet for the last week or so almost breakfast, lunch & tea. When we can't self cater we keep getting caught out at dinner time as none of the restaurants usually open till 8 which is after z&z in bed so we often pull out the leftover bread & apples from lunch. Also, its very budget friendly! Craving salads & veg though. Tonight, we splashed out on calamari which was a heavenly carb free change. Ok, late, late. Catching a ferry to the Aeolian islands tomorrow & to Stromboli the day after.
