Wow, wow, wow!.... We just got back from the most amazing trip to swim with whale sharks! They are the biggest fish if the world- hence the term whale in their name. They are grey-blue with beautiful white spots, 6-20m and completely harmless, just sucking up plankton. We tag teamed jumping in to swim them whilst the other person looked after Z & Z. The last days in Arusha have flown! My birthday was lovely. I finshed work early and we went to lunch with Adam, the kids and our lovely volunteer friends, Jake, Maebh and Gary at the beautiful Shanga restaurant. I had been wanting to go for months and we were spoilt with perfect sunny weather. It started with drinks on the colourful cushioned couches on the lawns with the monkeys tearing about and Zac and Zoe in hot pursuit. We then had a delicious buffet meal...

Our safari to Lake Manyara and Ngorogoro Crater and was great and full of adventure...but not all of the wild-life variety. Lots of car trouble! Luckily, it was only at the end of each day so despite having to go to find a mechanic BOTH days we still got to see lots of wildlife. Our Tanzanian christmas was just lovely. We spent christmas eve with the family that Adam did Maasai English teaching with (Nick and Heidi with their girls Hannah, Hayley and baby Nolan), some of their friends and our friend here from Pembroke, Gary. Adam is running his 3-day teacher training conference this week with the help of a lovely Pembroke teacher from Oz (Gary) and some St Jude's teachers. It is reportedly going very well with lots of energy, enthusiasm and networking. They have had 15-20 people attending which is an enormous relief given many were travelling home for christmas.
