Tonight turned into another messy one! At 6 o'clock, everyone going on the Intrepid Chiang Mai tour meet at the hotel. Everyone is from a different country, (New Zealand, Australia, Holland, Canada & South Africa!) so their is a good mixture of people!
We talked about the plan of action over the next couple of days, and Nop our leader/guide was telling us what to do and what not to do! (Including the Tuk-Tuk scam that's already happened to me!). We went out for a Thai dinner, and I think it's the best I've had so far!
*** Sorry if this is boring today, but I have loads to write about, plus it's my blog! Lol" ***
... After dinner, we all headed to a bar in Khao San Road, a night out wouldn't be the same without visiting an Irish bar, & eating scorpion! YES... Scorpion, I have to be honest, that I didn't eat the biggest part, but the point is I ate some, struggled to swallow it, and maybe I heaved a couple of times, but I can't honestly say, that I won the gold star, in that bush tucker trial!! (the sick thing was that i was drinking beer, and every time I burped, I tasted it...!)
After we had our tasty treat, we headed to another couple of bars, & meet people from all walks of life...! alot seem to be from the UK!
We also had a good laugh at some of the signs in Khao San Road, my favoute was:
TATTOOS - "We use a new needle everytime" doesn't feel me with confidence when they have that kind of slogan! Maybe it was funnier when you've had a lot of Chang!! (Thai Beer!)
The guys from the tour (Scott, Mohammed & Brad) and I went to "The Club!" with the girls from Leeds that we had meet earlier in the night. It was a quality night! And crashed out in the room about 2.
Ok, so I'm now on Friday 23rd, the gang from the tour meet at 9, and Nop was going to take us for a walk locally to see some of the temples and sights! The Golden Mountain was the highlight, it's a massive temple set up on a man made mountain! It's pretty impressive, it was so hot at the top, thank god for the water!
It was free time after this, and as a group desision we desided that we would take Tuk-Tuk's to the River, and hire a long boat, for an hour tour! It has to be the funniest and scariest Tuk Tuk journey so far, first of all their was 3 of us in this thing, and this driver liked the accelerator pedal, we did come so close to being sandwiched in between 2 coaches, I actually moved my knee further into the cart, not that it would have made any difference, the coaches would have turned is into Jam! It was a bit like a chase scene from a movie!
Once we arrived at the Harbour, we took our seats on long boat, it didn't look that safe, made from wood, and at some points when it was smashing down on the waves, it could have snapped- but that's all part of the excitement! Saw lots of sights along the river.
The next minute we look over and their is a crocodile, causally just walking up the bank of a canal, & just up the river about 200 meters away kids were just jumping in the water, having fun, playing... Sod that.
