This beach lifestyle is going to be hard to say goodbye to tomorrow, when we start our trip inland. We have spent 2.5 days here chilling out with nothing more to do than sleep, read and swim, either by the pool or down at the beach. We arrived about 3pm Thursday afternoon and pretty much everything was closed. Nothing really opens to about 5pm but Michaela and I headed down to the beach to have a look.
Red bluffs along the coast line and then beautiful white sand which have plenty of beach bars & restaurants for your pleasure. It was coming up to high tide when we were there which meant the water was where the tables and chairs usually are. These bars are usually just open during the day from about 10-5 which it would appear is low tide. Had a nice dinner with some of the girls and then we wandered the shops which were now open.
Yesterday, after a lovely included breakfast, a couple of us headed down to the beach before it got too hot. You can set up shop at one of the restaurants as long as you order a drink or two, so pineapple juice it was for me. I really love the fresh juices here and I will definitely be making use of the blender when I get home. So, for the next couple of hours it was reading, swimming, reading, swimming. It was pretty shallow and you had to go a fair way out to even be chest high and the water was pretty warm but still lovely. Decided to splurge and have a plate of grilled prawns in garlic and oil for lunch.
Yesterday afternoon 3 of us organised to go horse riding towards the sand dunes and along the beach. All was going swimmingly until my head got in the way of a tree branch which then meant my horse continued without me while I lay flat on the ground - yes, I fell off. Bit sore but OK. Got back on the horse (as the old saying goes) and continued. Out into the sand dunes where the buggies go, to an oasis where we had a small break before returning via the beach. Love the sound of the waves breaking on the shore.
Went out for dinner with some of the group but they were continuing on for drinks which I definitely didn't feel like so came back to the hotel and lay in the hammock for a while reading. Up early this morning after a nice thunderstorm during the night turned off our electricity which meant no air conditioning (which normally overrides my roommates snoring). Had brekky and then spent the morning lying in the hammock reading and trying to get comfy. Back, neck and head a little sore but nothing badly damaged. Headed back to the beach with some others for lunch and once again some more grilled prawns. Gotta get them while I can.
