So this is what a holiday is meant to be like - lying on the beach, swimming in the water, reading a book without a care in the world. We have arrived in Paraty, which is just a few hundred kms south of Rio. It is an old colonial city, and the little town is just beautiful. Cobblestone streets, whitewashed walls, colourful window frames and beautiful iron balustrades. Just want to keep taking photos.
We had one night in the town from where I last wrote, and left at 7am the next morning. Glad I chose to stay in a room and not have to worry about pulling the tent down because I was on cooking duty which meant being in the cooking tent at 5.50am and it was raining. Joy..
We had a 5hr drive to Paraty and we passed beautiful beaches on the way. We also passed a Budget Expeditions truck (cheaper version of Tucan) camping on the side of the road - some of the passengers were sleeping under the truck! We arrived at our campsite and there was already 4 other Tucan trucks here and another arrived later that day, along with 2 other trucks from other companies.
After doing lunch, put on the swimsuit and hit the beach across the road from the camp. I spent quite a few hours reading and swimming. Perfect, although had to go back and cook dinner.
This morning I was wide awake at 5am (due to a time change) and I got up and headed to the beach for some sunrise photos. Glad I got up as it was beautiful. Went back and dozed for a while before getting up again. Today, a boat had been booked for us and another Tucan truck for a few hours. Walked into town and jumped on the boat. We sailed around the bays and islands for a few hours, stopping at 3 different locations for a swim and we also had lunch on the boat. Just a perfect day really. The sky is blue and the sun is shining.
So, have tomorrow here aswell, more beach time, and then off to Rio.
