Nourlangie - We made a relatively early start to beat the heat and drove into Nourlangie Rock. It's a beautiful bush/rock walk with incredible views, an ancient Aboriginal shelter and a very different type of Aboriginal rock art. The shelter has been dated at about 20,000 years old and people were still using it as recently as 1981.
We left there and had morning tea at the edges of the stunning Anbangbang Billabong, then drove back to Cooinda for lunch.
After lunch, we spent the afternoon around the deliciously cool and beautiful resort pool then headed off on the Yellow Water Billabong cruise later in the afternoon. It is a magnificent way to really see and feel Kakadu. It is teeming with amazing wildlife and is breathtakingly beautiful, especially at sunset. We did the same thing 4 years ago and we all enjoyed it again just as much, if not more, a second time.
We saw loads of crocs and buffalo this time, and many beautiful and interesting birds and plants. The atmosphere is peaceful, yet so full of life and activity. We finished the evening with a delicious dinner at the resort and afterwards the boys enjoyed meeting some other kids and hunting geckos together.
