My Big Adventure
So today we got up and breakfasted and headed out with Lucy and the kids to Mission Beach to meet Jane, a teacher friend who used to work with mum and Lucy. Although we didn't actually need to go to Mission Beach as we met her at the petrol station! So we travelled in convoy for the majority of the journey. When we arrived at Mission Beach we had a lovely coffee (well milkshake for me) and a lovely catch up on the last few years!! After fully catching up and getting the low down on where we all are now. We headed to the beach. It was another amazing beach. Another amazing beach which you can look at but not swim in! While on the beach we collected some coconuts and mum and Jane tried to get them out of their cases but couldn't find anything sharp enough, so we packed them in the bag to take home with us to try again later. While on the beach we also had fun watching the sky divers come in over the beach and although I haven't wanted to do another skydive, I would consider doing one here! The view must be amazing! While on the beach we were lucky enough to see a kingfisher come in and land on a piece of driftwood and I was even luckier to be able to get a photo before it flew away. What started off as a bit of a dull and wet day turned into a burning hot day so we headed off the beach into the shade and grabbed some lunch before bidding farewell to Jane and heading back to Lucy's. It was so lovely to see Jane and spend the day with her and it definitely didn't seem that it had been over ten years since we had all seen each other! When we got back to Lucy's we had a bit of a chill and then we set about trying to get the coconuts out of the pod/shell. It took a lot of energy and brute force but finally with the help of the chisel we managed to free the coconuts! After putting all this effort in I suddenly realised that I don't even like coconut! However I felt as I had gone to all the effort of freeing it from its shell that I should actually try it and it turns out I actually quite like coconut! But not sure if this is just because I knew how much effort I had gone to! After freeing the coconuts, we had some dinner and settled into a normal evening of watching a cheesy film with friends!! Something it feels we haven't done for such a long time.
