Sayulita is a surfer town on the south west coast of Mexico. Beautiful beaches, market stalls and some delicious 10 pesos tacos (that's only 50p in sterling). The hostel we're staying at is the partner hostel to the one in Puerto Vallarta but the people here are much friendlier and on our first night we're already joining in a Pilates session by the pool which is run by a girl staying in our dorm.
We collectively decided that we'd rent the surfboard from the hostel for a couple of hours and try our luck at surfing. Little did we know that the waves that weekend were vicious and the board we'd rented was far from a beginners board. In reality, under these circumstances and without an instructor, we had no chance of success. Nevertheless, we tried our best and ended up being tossed around the ocean until we finally gave up. Lots of fun and something that's tempted me to take a couple of weeks out at some point and just learn how to surf. Another afternoon was spent being buried in the sand and transformed into a stout body builder (pictures to follow) followed by coronas on the beach and fresh coconut water with lunch. Sayulita was truly beautiful, and extremely hard to to leave behind for all of us.
