Found somewhere to stay at 5am this morning, very tired so slept for a few hours. Had a short walk around the city but too hot so got a rickshaw to Ullah beach,not the nicest beach as it turned out. The usual piles of rubbish everywhere even outside the small houses that line the beach, we just don't get it. As we walked along the beach (we'd decided against swimming, the sea was pretty rough and not all that clean) , we saw a man carrying a girl out of the sea, he laid her on the sand covered her with a sheet, it was very upsetting, we kept our distance from the group who had gathered and headed back to Mangalore city. One of those things you see that you can't quite comprehend has happened. Went to Pizza Hut for supper, nice to have a change from curry, and had a look around the shopping centre, quite a novilty. The Mangalore Dasara festival is on this week so there were lights up everywhere and lots of people dressed up and putting on dances.

Monday, 28th September

A pretty chilled day today, we went back to the shopping centre and had an iced coffee, Mmmmm, I got some croc flip flops which are so comfy. Took us ages to get train tickets as everyone who had come for the festival was now trying to get home. Found our seats on the train easily and settled down before our 3am wake up arriving at 3:35am-oops, always check what time the train arrives when booking tickets.
