Pleased that I checked the exchange rate, got 27,000 off the price of our room. Met Claudio and Karina at the airport who were on their way home from Moorea. So glad to see them and have them as guides around Santiago at rush hour, the metro was fun with our bags. We found a Hostal near their appartment and went for a few beers at Don Rodriga Bar, a tiny local. Claudio and Karina headed off to catch up with family so we headed back to the hostal, such comfy beds and fluffy duvets.
Friday, 7th May
Woke up just after 12pm and went for a late breakfast at the Cafe next door, it's a proper cafe old and traditional. Spent most of the day catching up with bank things and skyping. Spoke to Al who told me her Mum has passed away which I am devistated about and wish I could go home. Went out Claudio and Karina for a lovely meal in a beautiful Restaurant, Bacas Gordas, then out for too many drinks and dancing, 4am to bed.
Saturday, 8th May
Both feeling rough, had breakfast then back to bed. Nice French Restaurant for supper and lazy movie night.
Sunday, 9th May
It's Chilean Mothers Day today, we had a wonder around the City Square and had stopped for a beer when Claudio walked past he was on his way to the hostal to take us back to Karinas parents house. When we first walked in we were a bit shell shocked, all of the 11 family and friends who were there came up in turn for kisses and to say hello. We weren't sure with us not speaking much Spanish and Claudio translating for everyone how the evening would pan out, but a fair few drinks later and we were all dancing and pretty merry.
Monday, 10th May
Bit of a fuzzy head this morning, this is becoming a reacurring thing for us here, very funny flash backs from getting back last night though. Had a chilled day in the park before ging round to Karina and Claudios apartment for drinks and quite a spread that they put on. Had a look through their Wedding pics and heard the stories that went with a few of the funnier photos. Was strange being in their apartment and hearing about the earthquake a few months ago, sounded so frightening, we felt so far from it when we were in Oz it really made it real to see the cracks in the wall and hear what actually happened.
