Up, packed, brekkie, negociated the metro and bus to Chillan. 6 hours instead of 3 but hostal Christy is very sweet, there's only 3 rooms and one other French/Chillean couple staying here. Very chilly walk round town, really notice it getting colder, supper and beers then back to get the lekky blankets on!

Found a great food market in town whilst looking for somewhere to get the washing done $9 for not a lot of washing, think they saw us coming. Samuel, who runs the hostal told us that the murals I'd wanted to see are in a school that was damaged in the earthquake so he's not sure how much is open to the public so we'll have a look in the morning.

Picked up the washing, (so nice to have everything ironed) then headed off to find the Escuela Mexico. We could see the Murals as soon as we walked into the school, by David Alfaro Siqueiros and Xavier Guerrero (a Mexican in exile) they cover the ceiling and walls of the entrance hall. The children were in class and the upstairs out of bounds until repaired but the caretaker let us take photos and have a little look around. Got a taxi to the bus station and the 2 o'clock to Pucon. Getting colder the futher South we go so glad to find Hostal Sofia with a woodburner blasting in the living room.
