Geoff, Jade & Goody's Eurotrip
Hey subscribers,
We have had a great couple of days in the UK and have seen quite a bit in a short time.
After the longest 22nd of June of my life, where we had 22 hours of
continuous daylight from a KL dawn to a UK dusk, we arrived in London where the weather was about 27 degrees, this turned out to be very deceiving in terms of UK weather.
We spent our first day walking around the main streets of London, checking out the Big Ben, London Eye, House of Commons, Buckingham Palace, Victoria Square, Piccadilly Square all other monopoly streets. We were just amazed by it all, it was great just walking around and soaking it all in. The only casualty for the day was my thongs, thanks Jade.
That night we took a bottle of vodka and a bottle of Jim Beam (duty free
grog) around to Ross and Sharee's and had a BBQ with them, complements to the chef (Ross) as we were hanging out for a nice meal like that.
Friday we headed to Oxford (about an hour north of London) to catch up with Andrew Goodwin and Nicole his girlfriend. Oxford was a really nice place and definitely worth the trip, it's a place we wouldn't have ventured out to in the 5 days here if Andrew wasn't living out there.
We spent the afternoon in a pub in Eynsham (a quiet little town 20 mins from Oxford), which is a really nice place. We went out for dinner and more drinks in Oxford and while we were a too tired to sample the night life, we heard it all night staying next door and across the road from 2 of the nightclubs in Oxford.
Saturday we got our walking shoes out again and spent the day looking around Oxford. It is just such a nice place, the buildings, shops and of course the university.
Saturday night Andrew and Nicole came back to London with us and for
something different we went to a pub and had dinner and ales, followed by more ales at another pub. The most disappointing thing about the pubs here is that 11pm when the night is just beginning the pubs shut and only nightclubs are open (til 2am) but of course want 5-10 pounds just to get in.
Sunday we went back around to Ross and Sharee's for another one of their terrific BBQ's, once again they put on a great feed and with a few beers we could honestly say that is was clearly the best meal we have had in London, thanks guys.
Sunday afternoon/night we went to a pub/bar called Oblivion in Clapham
(South of London) with some people we met at the BBQ. Once again we sampled some of the local beers, we have even got Jade and Jenny drinking beer on the odd occasion.
While our stay in London has been brief we have had a great few days, and look fwd to heading back here to work (although the weather is going to be some what different!)
Today (Monday) we are all looking forward to getting to checking out
Brussels.
Until next time,
Geoff, Jade, Jarrod and Jenny
