Hola !
So we moved on to Marbella (or Marbs as we now like to call it !) - surprisingly, we really liked it there, I was expecting it to be very tacky but it is very pretty, with a beautiful long promenade to walk and some great little cafes along there to sit and enjoy a coffee whilst people watching. There is also a lovely old town, full of lanes to wander and courtyards for a cheeky cold beer. We went back in for an evening visit and had a couple of great bottles of wine and some delicious tapas. James decided to entertain me on the walk back with 'speed walking' but his flip flops caused a problem and next thing he was on the tarmac with a grazed knee and ripped jeans - very amusing, I was still giggling the next day ! We also visited Puerto Banus, which was not as impressive - a lot of swanky restuarants over looking the marina area but full of walking sales people bothering everyone with their bag / purse / sunglasses sales, so we didn't bother stopping more than an hour. The campsite at Marbella was really good, and cheap at only 14 euros a night, with a sea view and a brand new toilet / shower block so we ended up staying 4 nights there. You could get the bus in to Marbella from right outside the campsite too, another bonus rather than the hassle of parking.
After Marbella, we drove up to Seville, not such a nice campsite, but also had a bus directly in to the city, so we spent a day wandering around Seville - the Plaza de Espana was really stunning - a perfectly symmetrical arc, stunningly decorated in mosaic and ceramics and - once again - a lovely old town to wander around. It's 'Santa Semata' (Holy Week) this week in Spain and Seville is particularly known for it's parade although we decided not to stop on and see this. We saw them setting up, and it looked like you would need a ticket plus the parade itself is not very cheerful - lots of people in Klu Klux Clan style hoods carrying religious memorabillia in a very sombre mood - not quite our thing. After 2 nights at Seville, we have now moved on to the Despenapossa (not sure I have spelt that right) National Park for 3 nights. We had a lovely hike in the park today and saw Processionary Caterpillars - apparantly they are quite nasty beasts but they looked very funny in a furry train. The campsite itself has a very peaceful view over olive trees. Last night we barbecued trout and it was delicious. We move on to a hotel in Madrid tomorrow for 3 nights.
Love to y'all x x x
