Since we are currently in Luxembourg, Bonjour!
We have just had 3 lovely days in Germany staying at a campsite within the Eiffel National Park, the site was right in the valley, surrounded by huge trees and with a river running through it. There was even an outside private shower to use, built in flint stone and with a large rainforest shower head - bliss!
We did a long walk into Einfur for the day, all through the walking trail in the National Park which was really nice - and mostly sunny with just one small shower. The weather has been hard to predict as it starts with blue sky, gets really cloudy, thinks about raining and then by late afternoon its blue sky again. For our first night the evening sky was cloud free and the stars were amazing - the area is known for its star gazing but unfortunately the next 2 nights were clouded out.
On the second day we went to the lake, which was a half hour drive from the campsite and hired bikes to cycle round it, 24km round - it was a lovely route, sometimes up above the lake surrounded by trees and sometimes right beside the lake, with a coffee stop halfway round.
Friday we packed up and have moved to Luxembourg but not before a detour en route to the very famous F1 circuit Nurburgring. Although F1 isn't held there now, the circuit runs many other races and they were doing test practice for touring cars so we thought we'd have a look - it was a bargain at 2 euros each for a grandstand seat opposite the paddock so plenty to look at on and off track and the cars were flying past. The complex was huge including a hotel, nightclub and lots of things to do, so went into an indoor 'mini theme park' for a couple of hours, there were a couple of 4D cinema type rides taking you through the history of the circuit from it's early days and a great little ride where you sat on a bus in front of a screen and the bus driver took you speeding around the circuit which was great fun. There were also excellent simulators, James did one where he drove the circuit and the whole car seat moved just as it would if you were actually driving - he said when he braked hard, it pushed you in the back. He did a lap time just over 8 minutes which was pretty good as it's 22 miles long.
Then we drove another hour and a half to reach Luxembourg - we are camped right on the border with Germany, at a lovely tree filled site at Echternach. We popped into the town Friday evening and there is a big flea market on for the weekend so we will walk in and explore. Echternach is Luxembourgs oldest city so there are some old walls and ramparts and it looks very pretty.
On Saturday we walked in to the town, the flea market was mostly junk but in the town square there was a steampunk festival which was fascinating to watch over a couple of beers. The outfits people had on were really incredible, huge efforts had been made and all the people were very friendly and loved having their pictures taken.
Sunday we did a great hike in the woods to a gorge and waterfall, both really stunning but no pictures as I had left my phone in the car. We had parked at a dinosaur theme park so James managed to grab one shot of me with a dinosaur outside the park!
Today we have moved to Luxembourg City, with a night in a hotel - woo hoo!! The city has left me a little underwhelmed to be honest, the 'old town' is just a couple of roads on a river however we have explored today and covered the Casemates du Bock (fortified walls of the city, a Luxembourg beer by the river, the 360 degree city sky tower, the very pretty Pont Adolphe (a road bridge with a pedestrian and cycle bridge below) and then back to the hotel for a swim and sauna.
Now we are back into the city for dinner out, feels very posh wearing our one nice top we each packed, and I'm back in heels at last, so I will sau Au Revoir for the moment, we are moving towards Nancy in France tomorrow x x

Barbara Graham We stayed on this site, also went down to village, there was country dancing and I bought my red sparkly hat that I wear for uke gigs from one of the stalls. We also were disappointed by city, took land train and walked around and in walls.
