Today I got to try butter beer, walk through Diagon Alley and see the Hogwarts Castle. We arrived an hour late because we got on the wrong train and then had to catch another train back to the stop we missed. From there we ended up getting a taxi because the wait for the shuttle bus to and from WB Harry Potter Studio was going to be too long. Laille rang WB Studio from the train to explain what had happened and they were really good about it. I think trying butter beer and seeing Diagon Alley were my two favourite things. The detail that went into both the costumes and props was incredible. Everything looked so realistic. The Harry Potter shop had everything from wands to house clothing to Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans. I bought Paul a giant chocolate frog, Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, whizz bangers and a key chain. At 7pm we had to be at the Contiki Basement to find out where our Contiki meeting was. We were redirected to a large room just off the hotel lobby. There are six tours leaving tomorrow morning so everyone was crammed into the room like sardines. They went over some basics, then we were introduced to our driver and tour manager. We signed in, showed them our passport and handed over our contiki vouchers. We also had to write down our emergency contact details. We were all given a green sticker so we could identify other people on our tour over at The London pub. We ordered a beer and then went outside to introduce ourselves to other people on our tour and get to know everyone. After a couple of beers we headed home to pack our suitcases. The taxi had been booked for 5.10am so I set my alarm for 4am. First day of contiki tomorrow!!
