This morning we drove about 2 and a half hours north of Auckland. We drove into a small town called Paihai which is right on the coast. The scenery has already been amazing, we have driven past massive valleys and moutains! Apparently NZ is very well known for its sheep, and while Mr Lonely Planet says there are 40 million sheep here we have only been stuck behind a lorry carrying some, oh and a few which were sprayed pink in a field! Other than that we have seen loads of cows!
So we parked up in the town, which is harder as our van is longer than a normal parking space. We took a walk around to see what was about. The Bay of Islands is made up of about 140 separate islands. The main things to do here is swim with dolphins in the sea or do boat trips around the island, other than that there isnt much else to do as it is winter. Since we have arrived the weather has been good, cold but blue skies and sunny. Late afternoon me and Mike drove to a campsite just our of town. It started to rain a little so we sat in our camper playing uno and Mc Donalds Monopoly!! Tonight I cooked spag bowl, so we ate that with my free wine and beers!!
