hey all! i havent put up a journal for a couple of days now and frankly thats cos there hasnt been much to report and to be honest there still isnt really... i just felt like blabbering on for a bit! i went to see the da vinci code last night with some of the gang... not having read the book it was rather confusing, had to concentrate really hard which probably wasnt a bad thing but something i'm really not used to particularly when it comes to films: romantic comedies and musicals are hardly taxing on the brain lol! it was good though... some painful bits to watch i have to say - i wont tell too much about it cos i dont know for one thing who has read it or seen it or wants to do either or whatever! today we had our transitional justice lecture and in it we watched a film called hotel rwanda which is about the whole hutu toutsie war and the congo and basically the geneside... all stuff that we had been taught the lecture before hand. i had already seen the film before today and knew it was very good but it made soooo much more sense watching it today, knowing more about the story, and was therefore a lot more powerful... i could see a couple of us in the classroom making faces at the painful bits to watch and trying not to cry at some bits etc - was a good lecture (i would say that wouldnt i... its a video!)... no but it was good in helping to make sense of what tyrone had been saying! i've been spending some time just now looking up tours which are available called "nomad tours" which specialise in going around countries like zambia mozambique namibia botswana zimbabwe malawi and eastern africa... thought i might try and do one of them as well on my break, it would take some quick thinking and action so i'm gonna have to get my brain and arse into gear on that front if i wanna follow it through which i think i'm pretty keen to - its just a case of finding "the one", making the decision (which none of us 4 normans are good at) and going right for it! bit scary but pretty exciting none the less! thats about it... theres only so much blabber i can do on so little new information! hope your liking the pictures... lots of love to you all, miss you, cant wait to see you when i get back. emily xxxxxxxx
