Leaving Siem reap after the 3 most amazing days! First day we woke early as I (Emma) was persistent to dom that we couldn't waste any of our time while being here! So we went and organised a tour for the next day to go see the ankor wat ruins and for the first day to get a tuk tuk to the national museum, which was an interesting place and massive building filled with all different Buddha statues from hundreds of years ago along with other similar pieces but wasn't really my (Emma's) kinda thing however dom really seemed to like it and was very interested in all! After going round the museum for just over an hour we were picked up by the same tuk tuk driver, we asked him to take us of a little tour around the small town of Siem reap paying him 5$ extra for doing so which was worth it to see more than just the main town!
In the afternoon we went out for a wonder around town going to the 'old market' which was massive!!! Filled with clothes, different little bits and a food section which smelt disgusting!!!!! There were all types of different fish everywhere but not only just seeing fish there they were also gutting the fish there right in front of you, with there also being some type of bird for sale, just seeing its legs stuck in the air. This was a part we both didn't enjoy quite as much and were glad to get back to the clothes section!
This evening we went to bed early as we were getting up at 4AM!! To go and see the sunrise at ankor wat and then to have a tour around the huge temple ruins! Everyone gathered in the same place to watch the sunrise which was so pretty while dom continued to take loads of photos of it all even if there had been no change to the sky so we end up with a lot of photos of the sunrise!! Then onto the ruins which we went around 4 different ones in the space of a few hours sweating everywhere it was so so hot!! But the ruins were amazing to look at (lot and lots of photos were taken!!). Getting back to the hotel we were both exhausted so the usual for us we had a nap before going out again! In the evening we went to the night market which again was massive and the street was all lit up with lights having such a good atmosphere with so many people around! The night was so lovely apart from having to watch dom scoff his face with bbq ribs :))
The last day our most favourite day of the 3, we checked out left our bags at the hotel due to not getting a bus till 7 this evening and went and got some lunch unsure of what to do and then suddenly everything planned out so well and we had the best day! We found a nice tuk tuk driver who drove us around 20 minutes out of town, if we weren't to do anything else that day just the drive there was amazing the different ways people live is so interesting just hut like houses on stilts made out of different materials and children just playing outside, we then arrived at a river where there were boats taking you to see the floating village, so we got a ticket 20$ each quite expensive but was so worth it. Getting on this big boat just me and dom the only ones on it setting off at first was abit worrying the water was so shallow cause of the season all sorts kept happening to the boat I think mainly going a ground but he would just say everything is fine! After around a 20 minute journey we got to the floating village which was in a massive lake and I can't even describe how amazing it was, to think that is how people live I find hard to get my head around!(over 4000 people lived in the village) We were allowed to get off onto one of the houses which was a fish and crocodile farm where we saw two crocodiles that they kept here and then we went up two flights of stairs and had a view of the whole village, was so surreal!
On the boat journey back the clouds turned grey but what came next was the biggest rain pour EVER along with thunder and lighting too! We had the sweetest tuk tuk driver who had waited for us to take us home only charging us 8$ he pulled the sides down so we were sheltered from the rain yet he was outside taking us home getting absolutely soaked, it was so windy too and we were getting blown around! Even in the pouring rain and thunder there were still children running around in the roads, most of them with no clothes just running around! We were very happy to make it back to our hotel and shortly after the rain had past! We just had a couple hour wait until our bus journey to kampot!
Currently writing this sat on a sleeper bus the weirdest but coolest bus you don't have seats you have beds!!
