So the overnight bus was err interesting... For starters we thought it was gonna be an 11 hour trip but was actually probably more like 16!!! We thought it was a direct bus but nope stopped off to drop people or stuff off every few miles!! The bus employees even stopped for an hour to eat dinner!!!
We were managing though and both of us quite happy until Em needed the toilet!! There wasn't one on the bus so we had to wait till the bus stopped which was in some weird red light district place (really dodgy) and run to find a loo! We tried going into one bar and got kicked out by security and with the other bars looking too dodgy to risk we settled for an out of site (not really) corner!
The rest of the bus trip went smoothly! Until we were unceremoniously dumped off in sihoukville! We'd assumed our bus was direct but nope! We had to wait another hour and half and ask what seemed like hundreds of people before we managed to catch a mini bus to kampot! The trip was mad! Took about two hours but the guys driving was insane! Both me an Emma were worried and has majorly put us off using them in the future!
Anyways we made it to kampot in one piece, grabbed a tuk tuk and off we went to our guest house for the next three nights. The guest house was called bandini's and was the best place we've stayed so far, it's owned by a French couple sarah and Tomas who were really helpful and friendly, the room wasn't too bad either apart from the lack of aircon.
Kampot itself was a bit weird, the city is very dirty there's rubbish everywhere you look so we didn't really spend too much time there. Straight away we decided we were gonna attempt to cycle to some Rapids about 5 miles away! We gave up pretty fast! It was just too hot, we mad our way back to the hotel, had a shower and went to a really nice Italian place for dinner.
The day after we'd decided that we were gonna hire a moped, I'd only ridden one once and Emma never so we were both a bit nervous. We picked it up quick and soon enough we were both pretty confident, we went a checkout out the Rapids which were very cool and very very strong neither me or Emma could swim against them.
We didn't want to waste our time with the moped so we drove up boker mountain, we'd heard there was a waterfall to see but neither of us realised how long a drive it was and must of taken us a couple hours to get there. However the views we saw were amazing!! we saw a giant and Buddha on the way up and got caught in a huge massive rain storm where for once we were actually freezing cold instead of boiling hot which I think we would have preferred, just in our vest tops! We stopped off at a shop on the way down the mountain buying some brightly coloured throw away ponchos and were both still very happy, going back down to the bottom of the mountain :)
The next couple of days went really quick, we spent them just relaxing, we went to the Rapids again and ate lots of food and then our time in kampot was at an end, we both agreed it was sad leaving.
