I apologise in advance for spelling keypad is rubbish and some keys keep sticking.... Anyway so since last entry went on a 2 day trek through the jungle. Got picked up from our hotel in the morning and joined 6 other people for our trip. We started off by walking for about 15 mins through the jungle to a waterfall. It wasn't as nice as previous ones with have seen (thats the problem with seeing so much you get a little complacent ha ha) and went for a swim which was refeshing and luckily no biting fish! Then we walked for another 2 hours. Was really hard work and we felt a little pathetic as some of the group clearly thought they were geroge of the jungle walking about with no shoes on and stuff! But we didn't complain and was another young English couple who were nice who also seemed to be struggling so we were ok. The walk was broken up a bit too by the guide who was like rambo. He kept chuking his big knife around and making us eat weird things and rubbing ants in Kat's face (?!) weirdo. Anyway we saw loads of insects and snakes and stuff and was actually really good fun. That night we stayed in a hut wih a bucket for a shower and the grossest toilet ever! Oh forgot to tell you about thai toilets well basically its like a hole in the ground you have to squat over and at the side is a bucket filled with water and a smaller bowl inside which you use to flush the hole i mean toilet with.... not the nicest. Anyway that night was pretty random stayed up around a campfire singing hotel california (was like been at school camp). We couldn't stop laughing when got into bed as was just so surreal. Next day we walked for 2 hours and left the others as they were doing 3 days and had a 6 hour walk ahead of them. In the afternoon we went EXTREME rafting and elephant riding. Loads more scary than Kanchanaburi had to hold on to the elephant for dear life as it went up and down near vertical hills (at one point i had to stand on its head to stop from falling and began to wonder if i would be the first person to die from falling from an elephant). Rafting was just as dangerous, going down rapids on a couple of bamboo poles tied together and the driver was determined to get us in the water!
We were shattered when got back to Chang Mai so had a kip and then went for the most gorgeous meal ever. Treated ourselves a little but is so cheap. We had mussels and springs rolls to start and for main Kat had fillet steak and i had spinach fettucini with parma ham and garlic bread and with all drinks including wine and beer was 12 quid ha ha. Then saw loads of people so went to investigate and found out they're filming the new denzel washington film here called American Gngster and are looking for western people as extras! There were loads of travellers dressed as soldiers as extras (seems like it might be a vietnam war film or somat) so are on the look out for celebrities and parts in the film ha ha.
The rest of the group get back from trekking today so we are off out for a meal with them tonight. Then getting the overnight bus back to Bangkok tomorrow. We have the day in bangkok (see the sights we missed last time) then the overnight train again o Phuket. It is so hot here cant wait to lie on a beach need to work on my tan looking a bit pathetic at moment. You would laugh if you could see how bad we look... bitten bruised and just generally sweaty. Have taken all our clothes to be washed so don;t even have any shorts to wear (laundry is only 40p per kg washed dried and ironed ha ha). Will try and put photos n this afternoon
