Just arrived in Bangkok this afternoon. Bit drunk at moment so apologise for lack of sense!
Had a gorgeous tea of traditional Pad Thai noodles from a street stall on Koh San Road for 20 bahts which is about 28p mmmmm. Also treated ourselves to a few Chang beers, which come in huge bottles for the equivalent of about £1, and at 6.4% it doesn't seem to cost much to have a good time around here!
If you know me then you'll know how much I love my plane food, but unfortunately didn't have much luck on either of the flights out here. First, on the connecting flight from Manchester to Heathrow I made the unfortunate decision of choosing the brie and cranberry sandwich. It wasn't as delicious as it sounds to be honest and tasted even worse once I'd discovered that it went out of date over a month ago! I told the hostess and she simply said it was a printing error. but then I saw her frantically going through the whole lot and chucking the rest out. I should have kept the packaging and sued the pants of British airways, Richard Branson wouldn't stand for this nonesense.
Then to make matters worst on the Quantas flight from Heathrow to Bangkok I was looking forward to putting the sandwich incident behind me and restoring my faith in plane food so I opted for the chicken believing it to be the safe option. Needless to say when it arrived it looked more like bleeding chicken testicles than tender breast in a rich red wine sauce (I got flash backs to an awful incident in a tapas bar in Spain which I'd rather forget) and I spent the rest of the time envying Kat's delicious looking beef stew.
Anyway enough about food.... slept through most of flight so it passed pretty quick just had time to watch Poseidon which was awful, but must say loving Quantas long-haul flights (apart from the chicken obviously), feel like a seasoned traveller already.
What we've seen of Bangkok, which I have to say is mainly bars, looks awesome so far, but will make much more sense tomorrow hopefully.
