Hi! Sorry its been a while but we have been very busy!
Just quickly need to tell you that the 3 half naked Italian Non-Stallions in our room turned out to be The nicest 3 Israeli men who saved us from cockraoches and mice and really looked after us so sorry for judging!!
just gonna boast...I mean tell you about our 3 day sailing trip around the Whitsundays *sigh*. So for those of you not in the know the Whitsundays are a group of 70 odd tropical islands in the Great Barrier Reef. We were on a maxi boat which used to be an old racing boat (which became very apparent later!) complete with the sails and racing spirit! The first day was gorgeous - beautiful blue skies, tons of sun and bobbing along on our boat to one of the islands to go snorkelling....which was when the Stinger Suits were introduced to us. Well now, they are neccessary due to us going into jellyfish season and us not wanting to die, but ladies and gents there is no other way to describe this suit to you than with 3 terrifying words.....FULL...BODY...STOCKING. Oh yes, all those horrible mental images are about right - highly attractive Im sure youll agree - shockingly a full no photographs policy was imposed to no you will not be able to see the wonder!
Anywho, glossing over that one - we got taken to a wee cove place and dropped off in a dingy (whey!) and went snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef! It was a bit worrying when we drifted right on top of the coral and after a little panic we all merrily explored the reef and it was very cool! Lots of beautiful fishes and coral for us to see - didnt see any scary killer things which was a bit of a disappointment but hey you cant have everything!
The lads on the boat did us proud with a wee roast dinner and nachos for tea before we went to bed. Oh yes and I played my first game of Uno and am now officially an addict - gotta love German rules Uno! Very aggressive!! Anywho, our 3 bunks were right at the very front of the boat and we woke up at 5am to the boat bobbing VERY precariously in the water - thank goodness for travel sickness pills!!
Day two was rainy and windy which wasnt the best (Emmy didnt enjoy the rocking at all bless her) but it was wicked once we got going because they cut off the motor and hoisted the sails up - we were going along on 6 ft waves sailing proper styley and it was very cool. Being a racing yacht it did proper tip up on its side which was really fun, i was glad when i figured out with way it would tip though so I wasnt falling backwards! Mmmer!!
Anywho, the rain meant that we also got to wear big yellow fishermens macs and hoods (wait for the photos!)so I was dead happy - not sure Jo and Em shared my enthusiasm though!! We went to the famous Whitehaven Beach which is unbelievable!! Even with the grey sky it was the most amazing colour - white powdery sand that felt like flour and tourquoise blue seas which looked stunning against the clouds. While we were here aswell the clouds cleared and the sun came out warming us up and making the beach sparkle - it was boootiful! After being chased off the beach by demon flies (dont believe the other two - it was not funny watching me fight with a fly) we got to go snorkelling - the other 2 chickened out but I went and it was even better than the day before - much more colourful coral and even more fishes!!
The night ended with Uno (whoopwhoop!) and drinks on deck and an introduction to Bruce the drinking snorkel which I do not reccommend!! Last thing to say is that the stars were absolutely unbelievable!! You could see everything including the milky way and I saw my first ever shooting star!!!! Its like someone went crazy sprinkling silver paint on black paper - took your breath away honestly!!
When we got back we all went out for drinks which was an absolute blast - lots of awful photos to upload! That was about it really - had an awesome time and did keep rocking when we got back to dry land!
Hope everyone is good - Fraser Island news soon!!
Love lennie xxx
