Hello! How are we all?!
Right....Brisbane....Commonly referred to as the a******* of Australia (or so Im told!) but actually I quite liked it!! It reminded us quite a lot of London, especially when we walked across the bridge, looked down the river and then walked along South Bank! Curiouser and curiouser! We expected to turn around and see the Oxo building and St. Pauls - was a little bit strange like!
We left Noosa after one night cause we were told it would rain and as wegot on the greyhound Mr Sunshine decided to visit! Doh! Fooled!! Anywho, after a long lug with our ginormous bags (they are growing and eating stuff I swear) we got to the hostel which was about 5 minutes from town.
Poodled around in town for a while until Emma had a big of a moment. I have NEVER seen this girl go so manic...and ive seen Emma manic....what had she spied I hear you cry....on a street corner....in the middle of Brisbane.....Emma spotted......A STARBUCKS!!!! The first she in 8 weeks. Yes I know some of you will think this is strange and others will think she has been coffee deprived for 11 weeks but this is just not true!! The girl has been having (in her own words) "yummy coffee" at least once, normally twice or thrice a day...EVERYDAY!!! She nearly broke Jos hand in joy! Very scary stuff!!
So anyway, that meant that Em liked Brisbane! We did some shopping and poodled around, there were some really nice old buildings in amongst the skyscraper - including one on stilts that looked like a lego building!! A poorly constructed one where the holes dont match up! My favourite! Oh and my future weekend palace as well - twas very nice!
Anywho, across the river to South Bank and the beachy lagoon they had there (Cairns' poorer cousin - oh Cairns, how could it ever compare?!) trying so hard to avoid looking at the numerous speedo clad old and normally over weight men - at least in Brighton its too cold for speedos!!!Then a beautiful walk through the purple flower clad steel walkway (twas really nice I swear!) and we found a wee peace pegoda gazebo thang - was nepalese and very purty!
We tried to work out the bus system but failed miserabley so just had to stand on tippy toes to see the beautiful Brisbane lights! Las Vegas' younger bro is apparently what Brisbane is called but we liked it!!
That sounds like a really dull couple of days doesnt it! hmmm.....we honestly did have fun!! OOOOOOOOh, and best of the best, Brisbane is where I got my Top Gun t-shirt so there...its officially the most fashionable place in teh whole wide world!!
Byron Bay the next stop - then down to Sydney to fly out! Cant believe its so soon!
Hope everyone is trucking along nicely love Len xxx
