Day 10/25 El Acebo - Ponferrado
A simple breakfast at La Trucha and we headed away around 0900. Vicky is walking with us today as Brian having another day off the knee.
A very steep decent into Molinaseca took us just over two hours. We stopped for some lunch, cafe con leche and a jamon and cheese baguette.
From there we passed through a very deserted Campo and onto Ponferrada arriving around 3pm.
It was a good but hot walking day - temp up to 25d, no wind and clear blue skies. There didn’t seem to be many pilgrims around today or maybe they all got up and away earlier than us!
Ponferrada is a lovely city with a huge Templar castle, built in the 13th century, over a destroyed Visigoth fort, which was built over a Roman fort, which was built over a pre-Roman Castro. Take that!
We did go visit and it’s pretty impressive. Soooo old.
A progressive dinner at a couple of tapas bars and back to room. It’s Friday night in Spain - could be noisy!
