Yep, its D-Day...Decade Day. The start of a new era. Apparently this is where life begins, or so Dave and the Dynamos led us to believe back in 1983 (you youngsters might want to refer to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMSIvMLtUyc so you'll know what I'm on about!) In reality it doesn't feel any different to any other birthday, or any other random day!
Although the holiday is the real present for both of us, and I'd scored myself a gorgeous new handbag and wallet a few days ago, it was still lovely that the kids presented me with a box of SUPERMAN LEGO! Love it! They know me so well
We headed down to Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon about 12pm with no plans other than to chill out and enjoy the beach on our last full day in Hawaii. And thats exactly what we got. We found a lovely big tree with lots of shade to sit under, Cody and Leo headed for the water and had a great time together, they spent about half an hour paddling around in one of those pedal boats. It was really lovely, a few strong winds didn't detract from a perfect way to spend a birthday.
We wandered along the beach to Shorebird for dinner, we enjoyed it so much a few days ago that we decided to go back. We requested a table overlooking the beach and only had a short wait before one came free, we made it through by sampling their most excellent frozen mojito
Perfectly cooked steaks, a large helping of delicious salads, another frozen mojito and a great view of the beach and waves - fabulous. There was a big blob of cloud in just the wrong spot for a full on colourful sunset, but it was still beautiful. In spite of being totally stuffed to the gills we still managed to fit in the chocolate brownie and ice cream that the restaurant staff delivered to our table with a birthday song - embarrassing but still cool!
A slow walk back to our hotel, making the most of the fading light and gorgeous views finished off a perfect day.
