Day 285 (Monday 15th September 08)
Got a reasonably good night's sleep as no one else moved us on. Drove down to park near the pier and started walking out to the end. Watched the pelicans, cormorants and fish. Chatted to some of the local fishermen and saw a massive fish that one of them had caught. Whilst we were there watching one of the guys reeled in a massive mack-tuna which they then threw back as they said it wasn't good eating. We would have had it! Then back to the Hoki Poki and we went for a walk in the Botanical Gardens. Saw lots of birds. Drove on to Maryborough and stopped for some lunch. Did the walking tour around the main sights of the city. Then headed onto Tin Can Bay. Didn't realise quite how long a road it was to Tin Can Bay with nothing around and very nearly ran out of petrol but luckily made it there! Had a look around and a walk on the beach seeing the solider crabs. Parked out at the end car park and was having a look through brochures we had picked up when another security guard pulled up. He asked us if we knew there was no camping around here which we said we had seen. Started chatting to Tony, as we found out, and he gave us some useful tips, one of them being where we could park up for the night and not get moved on. After we finished chatting we then headed up to where he had said and found it was a better place as there were some nice toilets with showers! Cooked our food and had a drink then went to bed.
